I had a lot of concerns about Gastroenterological research after finishing my Master's degree in the Molecular Biology of HBV-associated disease. One day of 2011, my boss came to me with an offer of H. pylori study. I started reading more about H. pylori and the pathogenesis of H. pylori infection. Through many valuable publications I read, Prof. Yamaoka raised as one of the world-renowned experts in gastroenterology and a leading expert in the field of Helicobacter pylori research. Through the introduction of my senior (Dr. Tung), I got chance to directly contact with Prof. Yamaoka and it was amazing getting the chance being a PhD student in his laboratory. With a huge support from Prof. Yamaoka and all the members in Department of Environmental and Preventive Medicine, the result has been an improvement in my writing and a better understanding of how I work better in laboratory. After focus on H. pylori virulence factors, host factors, with my one year left as PhD student I hope I can finish the basic study to research more deeply the correlation between H. pylori infection and the accumulation of DNA double strand break in the infected cells.
